TABA gives you the resources to access expert commercialization support without dipping into your R&D. Foresight helps you move fast, stay focused, and launch strong.
Funded through SBIR/STTR? Use TABA to unlock expert commercialization support. Foresight helps you turn innovation into impact.
Technical and Business Assistance (TABA) is a funding opportunity provided by U.S government agencies to support the commercialization of technologies developed through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. This supplemental funding allows you to select your own commercialization services provider, adding additional resources to your project at no cost to your core research and development budget.
Introduced by the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019, TABA empowers you to access expert guidance and services that can help bring your innovation to market successfully.
Several SBIR/STTR participating agencies provide TABA funding:
Note: TABA amounts may be in addition to or included in the funding threshold, depending on the agency. Refer to the specific solicitation for details
To utilize TABA funding, you must request it at the time of your SBIR/STTR proposal submission. Each agency has specific guidelines for including a TABA request, so it’s essential to consult the solicitation for the agency to which you are applying.
If you wish to select your own commercialization services provider, you must include this request in your proposal. Be sure to follow the agency’s instructions to ensure your request is considered.
With over 43 years of experience in commercialization consulting, Foresight Science & Technology has a proven track record of supporting SBIR/STTR projects. We are currently under contract to provide these services for the EPA SBIR Phase I TABA program, the USDOT Phase I and Phase II TABA programs, and are subcontracted to review hundreds of DOE SBIR/STTR Phase II commercialization plans annually.
