What do we actually mean when we talk about impact? There’s broad agreement that it matters, but far less clarity on whether we’re all talking about the same thing.
Since solving difficult problems is more fun in good company, we partnered with Imperial College London’s Research Impact Management Office (RIMO) to put together a unique play-based workshop at the 2026 UIIN Conference in Stockholm, June 15–17.
In collaboration, Foresight Science & Technology is delivering “Unlocking Impact through Play” — an interactive workshop in which participants work in small teams, step into stakeholder roles, and navigate impact challenges that don’t come with easy answers.
The idea behind the session is straightforward: research impact isn’t something you measure after the fact. It’s something you design, negotiate, and build together. And sometimes the best way to learn that is by doing it.
This year’s UIIN Conference theme — Collaborating for a Better World: From Ideas to Scaled Impact — captures exactly that spirit: moving beyond theory and into the practical, messy, rewarding work of making research count. With delegates from over 50 countries and sessions spanning university-industry collaboration, innovation ecosystems, and talent development, Stockholm is shaping up to be a rich few days.
