Dr. Negri holds a PhD in organometallic Chemistry from Imperial College of Science & Technology, London, UK and a Bachelors degree from Kingston Polytechnic, Kingston-upon-Thames, UK. She completed two years of Post-doctoral research in the fields of novel synthetic ionophores and asymmetric synthetic methodology with Professor Leo A. Paquette at The Ohio State University, before joining the global pharmaceutical company Pfizer Ltd, in Sandwich, UK, as a project Scientist. During a career of nearly fifteen years, as both a technical leader and group manager, Dr. Negri led multiple research and development programs in the human health and animal health areas in Pfizer UK and from 1999 in Pfizer Inc., Groton Connecticut. She directed global, multi-disciplinary development teams and laboratory technical teams to develop scaleable processes for the production of both exploratory and late-stage new drug candidates. Her involvement in pharmaceutical development spanned the discovery phase through registration and launch/early marketing activities as well as focusing upon staff development and project management. Dr. Negri was also a corporate pioneer and leader in field of green chemistry (sustainable, environmentally benign methods and materials for synthesis), creating and leading in-house educational workshops and external outreach programs.
In 2005 Negri left the corporate world to focus her own entrepreneurial ventures and owns a small business focusing upon horticultural design, environmental stewardship and eco-education. She has published articles in Hobby Farms Magazine, The Providence Journal and appeared in HGTV’s “If Walls could Talk” television series on historic homes.
Dr. Negri is an author of over sixteen scientific publications and an inventor on three patents including advances in the synthetic process to make sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra®.
